I guess we should start with an origin story?
Okay so how and why did I start getting super invested in marbling techniques.
YouTube
Obviously.
I’ve known the technique existed for quite a while but it didn’t really strike me until I got into bookinding (another hobby I’ll probably start rambling about in future) and I found this video by four keys book arts on making marbled paper and I was just like.
Okay I need this, where do I sign?

So then I fell into research, especially the whole “what’s the magic size made off?” was a fun deep dive but I can’t for the life of me get my hand on the carrageenan moss that I need for the size (except in like a 20kg bag from a brewery website for over €400,-)
And then as I was kinda sulking I found a video by DAS bookbinding on suminagashi and this stuff I could do because with this you float on water, and I have water and dish soap and an ink stick and ink stone (don’t ask) so I set to work in a small format (using a little plastic tray I had laying around the house) and I friggin LOVED IT.
I only have a black ink stick to try this out with and my attempts to mix coloured paint with dish soap and float that were very sad and embarrassing.
And I honestly should share and I might add it in but I didn’t scan them yet and if this line is still here years after this post got made it means I was too lazy to bother ^^;
I did scan these marbled labels because they are adorable and I made a bunch of them.
And with a bunch I mean A BUNCH, way more than you need to scroll through.
So that was me falling head over heels with the craft now allow me to break this ramble off and start a new one because the next step for me was doing an ebru workshop but this thing is getting far too long.
