Indulge

It's a party, there's no need to hold back. You take another drink, laughing and joking with her and the other customers. A cheeky young man dares you and your friend to a game of cards and you happily accept. In the midst of the game, she tells you she is heading to the powder room and you tell her you'll see her in a bit. But twenty minutes later she's still not back. You stumble to the powder room to find it empty. Puzzled you ask around in the bar. No one has seen her leave. No one has seen her ever since she went into the powder room. Did she leave without you? She wouldn't right? But after an hour of searching, you have to conclude she is indeed nowhere to be found. Annoyed you go home by yourself. You ring her home the next day but she doesn't answer. That is the last time you've seen her. And you never will again.
